ABOUT US

Welcome to our web site. Whether you are a financial donor or of household goods, donate a WOW vehicle, a shopper at our stores, shredding services customer, employer wanting to hire a Goodwill job ready applicant, a business needing our industrial contract services, a community partner, or most importantly a person needing our Workforce Services we want to serve you. You are all greatly appreciated and help us accomplish our mission.
Did you know Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Michigan, Inc., serves communities in the Lenawee, Monroe, Hillsdale and Washtenaw counties? In fact, in 2010 we celebrate 50 years of dedicated services. We focus on helping people gain the dignity and respect that earning a paycheck brings through the “power of work” one job at a time. Our mission is to provide opportunities for people facing barriers to improve their lives. Goodwill is about real visions of helping people prosper, improve their quality of life, and add value to their communities.
We invite you to join us in our Anniversary activities beginning June 12 with our store wide celebrations, and the “Magic of Goodwill” festivities held on November 6, at the Siena Heights Dominican Hall, beginning at 5:30 with a silent auction and dinner. For reservations tickets for $50 each are available. We invite you to join us.
Goodwill will host its annual Car Show to benefit the Workers On Wheels (WOW) program on August 7, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
In 2009, Goodwill Industries relocated its headquarters to a larger facility at 1357 Division Street in Adrian, Michigan, where we have expanded space to house our business offices, Workforce Development Services, Goodwill Secure Shredding, Wiper Sales, Stores, Donation Drop Off Center, Industrial Contract Services Division and our Workers On Wheels Vehicle Donation Program. Obtaining this building was an answer to our dream of consolidating our operations for greater efficiencies.
We are pleased to offer four stores in the following locations: Adrian, Saline, Monroe and Lambertville. Our stores and area business’s also serve as training sites for Goodwill trainees. Visit our store information site for more details.
We serve people with many types of barriers including those with physical and mental disabilities, youth at risk, youth and adult offenders, veterans, homeless and the economically disadvantaged. In 2009, Goodwill provided employment and training services to 1,880 people. We are pleased to report that Goodwill paid $1.6 million in wages back to the community. How do we do this? Donations of usable goods are sold in our retail stores and those funds are then used for job development, placement, and training. In fact, we use 89% of our revenue for services and 11% for administration.
Our partnerships with the Intermediate School Districts, Probate Court, Michigan Rehabilitation Services and Residential Treatment Facilities enabled nearly 430 youth at risk students the opportunity to experience the world of work with career assessment, trial work experiences and job placement services.
Goodwill’s Workers On Wheels (WOW) Vehicle Donation program, a community partnership of ten agencies, provided dependable transportation to 55 people and successfully 93% maintained employment beyond 180 days. In fact, many vehicles are repaired by auto mechanics students at various prisons with the Department of Corrections to save in costs. Our services help remove obstacles to employment to foster self-sufficiency and build lives, families and communities—one job at a time.
Whether you are donor of gently used household goods, donate a WOW vehicle, a shopper at our stores, shredding services customer, employer wanting to hire a Goodwill job ready applicant, a business needing our industrial contract services, a community partner, or most importantly a person needing our Workforce Services we want to serve you. You are all greatly appreciated and help us accomplish our mission
The Board of Directors has initiated a three year “Beyond the Dream” capital campaign to raise $1 million and are seeking donations to assist us in renovations and purchase of our headquarters. If you have been a donor in the past, thank you, we hope you will consider another gift to help us continue our legacy in the communities we serve. We encourage you chose Goodwill as your charity of choice and consider a gift to the campaign. Visit our donations page for ways you can give.
