Employment Training

Students may participate in services as part of their school day or evenings and weekends. Credit may be assigned through the school.

JOB READINESS

Concentration is placed on developing skills and behaviors in preparation for further training and community employment. Individuals are assigned to workstations at Goodwill Industries,
with adjustable levels of supervision. They meet weekly with Goodwill staff to review progress/set goals.

SUMMER EXPERIENCE

This experience provides work opportunities, community job shadows and awareness education. Referrals are a joint effort between LISD and Michigan Rehabilitation Services.

 

fJOB EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING (JET)

JET offers students the opportunity to experience working conditions in structured community sites with varying levels
of supervision. JET is an unpaid LISD service. Goodwill is contracted to provide site supervision. (unpaid)

 

SHOW ME THE MONEY                 

This class assists students in making career decisions, provides a combination of classroom activities and job shadowing experiences. Students may be eligible for 1/2 high school credit. Summer school tuition costs apply and LISD Tech Center application required.

 

NEXT STEP

Next Step provides Maurice Spear Campus residents with vocational exploration and employment to assist them in transitioning back into school and provides opportunities for making positive life choices.
