Employment & Training Services

LINC2Community

This service is a partnership with Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority (LCMHA) that focuses on individuals improving their skills and abilities through involvement in community based experiences.

Good Leads

This service focuses on placement of individuals with barriers into jobs within the community. It involves the cultivation of potential employers and the matching of individuals to those employers.

Vocational Training

Working with the Lenawee Intermediate School District (LISD) and Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS), this service focuses on developing soft skills through involvement in trial work experiences for those just entering the workforce.

Training Services

External employers provide opportunities for individuals facing barriers to employment through Goodwill, by allowing Goodwill skills trainers to work one on one with the individual for additional training. Such employers include Venchurs, Project Search through ProMedica, Marshall’s and many others.

Skill Building

In coordination with Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority (LCMHA), this service focuses on teaching job and self sufficiency skills to individuals with barriers. The goal is to eventually transition these participants to external employers.

Micro Enteprise

This evolving service is now based out of the Blue Boutique, located in downtown Adrian, MI, where entrepreneurs are able to develop their companies in an inclusive community environment with a goal of independently operating their own business.

Training Center

Located in the City of Monroe, the Training Center incorporates many of the services listed above including community inclusion and basic skill development, employment services, skill building, vocational training and training services.  The Monroe Training Center works closely with the Monroe Community Mental Health Authority (MCMHA), Michigan Rehabilitation Services (MRS) and the Monroe County Intermediate School District.

Refurbishing Goodwill

In early 2017, this service started with the idea of teaching refurbishing skills to individuals with barriers and to reduce the number of pieces to be discarded. This program has exceeded expectations and is developing into a program teaching individuals safety training, assembly skills as well as basic skills to properly clean and refurbish furniture.

Books and Literacy

Goodwill is a strong supporter of literacy programs and currently provides books to the Great Start Little Library program, the Cradle2Career Literacy program, and the AM Rotary Little Libraries in Lenawee County. Books are also provided “free” to the Adrian and Madison Township Police and Fire Departments, as well as to veterans at the Veterans Affairs Office.

Goodwill Industries is committed to working with homeless/at-risk youth. Youth start is a program that is aimed at preventing vulnerable youth from becoming adults in our community that are unable to meet their basic needs and dropping out of school. Since its inception in 2009, 99% of homeless youth served have graduated from high school. Youth start applies a holistic approach that incorporates real paid work experiences, close collaboration with school personnel, and intensive coaching to increase the potential that youth graduate high school, seek post-secondary credentialing and continuing education while acquiring the tools and knowledge to achieve financial stability as adults.Youth Start is a partner in a larger coalition in Lenawee County looking to address a massive problem.
